In New Hampshire, a driveway is more than an entrance—it's a critical piece of infrastructure that must withstand harsh freeze-thaw cycles, heavy snow loads, and spring mud season. T's Excavation specializes in the structural installation and grading of durable driveways in Bethlehem, Franconia, and throughout the White Mountains. We build driveways from the ground up to last.
Our focus is on the foundational work: proper excavation, base preparation, and expert grading. This ensures your driveway remains stable, drains correctly, and provides reliable access to your property for years to come, no matter what the New England weather throws at it.
Proper Base Excavation
We begin by excavating the driveway path, removing all organic material, loam, and soft subsoil that can decompose and cause sinking.
Geotextile Fabric Installation
We lay a high-strength geotextile fabric to separate the subsoil from the gravel base, preventing mud from working its way up and compromising the structure.
Compacted Sub-Base & Base Layers
We build the driveway up in layers, or "lifts," of processed gravel, compacting each layer to create a dense, stable foundation that can support heavy vehicles.
Expert Grading for Drainage
This is key. We meticulously grade the driveway, creating a crown in the center or a consistent slope to one side, forcing water to shed off the surface rather than pool or run down the center.
Culvert Installation
For driveways that cross ditches or swales, we install appropriately sized culverts to allow water to pass freely underneath, preventing washouts and erosion.
